Rule B.8: When Footnotes Are Required for Roadmaps

Return to Red Rules

When a piece forecasts what it will discuss in the subsequent Parts and Sections, a footnote is not required if the author references the relevant Part or Section in the above-the-line text. If the author does not reference the relevant Part or Section in the above-the-line text but still forecasts what will be happening later in the piece, a footnote with an internal cross-reference is required.

Note: Roadmaps should be in present tense.
