For Ethnic and National Groups, TLR follows CMOS 8.38. TLR capitalizes “Black” when referring to racial identity but respects the individual stylistic preferences of Black authors publishing in TLR. TLR does not correspondingly capitalize “white” as a racial identity. This diverges from CMOS which notes that “white” may be capitalized for consistency.
