Rule A.12: Possessives of Words Ending in “S”

TLR follows CMOS 7.16–7.19. Possessives of words that end in “s” should generally be followed by an apostrophe and an “s” unless the word is a plural noun. 

YES: The circus’s acrobats were flexible.
YES:The puppies’ paws were dirty.
